I'm currently the director of a political advocacy organization for the poor and homeless, with an emphasis on creating housing and transitional shelter facilities for low-income families and the elderly. I spent my earlier adult years working alternately as a property manager and a journalist.

I was basically raised on a soapbox, have socialist leanings, and strong - but unconventional - spiritual beliefs. I have degrees in both American literature and journalism, but found that I prefer to work with the disadvantaged - particularly children and the elderly.

I love the popular music of the late 50's and early 60's and older R & B. I enjoy playing my keyboard, and frequently dance and sing (although I'm not very good at either). I have no interest in traveling or most social activities, in part because I'm so fanatical about my work.

A few of my favorite authors are John Steinbeck, Jack London, Upton Sinclair, and Charles d---ens. My favorite quotation is Edmund Burke's "All that's necessary for evil to truimph is for good men to do nothing".

I like people who have the courage of their convictions, don't tolerate hypocricy, are not afraid to confront authority figures where an injustice is involved, feel a sense of responsibility toward others, and who say what they mean.

I would like to find someone with similar attitudes to correspond with.
